Associate Staff Accountant

Role Overview:

The Associate Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of financial records, ensuring accuracy in customer invoicing, processing accounts payable, performing journal entries, conducting bank and balance sheet account reconciliations, and providing support for payroll processing. The Associate Staff Accountant will work collaboratively within the Accounting team and across departments to contribute to the overall financial health and success of the organization. This position is part of the Finance and Accounting team, reporting to the Division Controller

Detailed Job Duties: (typical monthly, weekly, daily tasks which support the primary objectives)

  • Assist in completing month-end close within 7 business days, which includes posting journal entries and reconciling the corresponding bank and balance sheet accounts
  • Process Accounts Payable, which includes verifying vendor invoices, ensuring accurate coding and timely payment, and issue resolution with vendors
  • Administer Accounts Receivable, including customer invoice generation, tracking POs and supplier requests, collections and issue resolution, and cash application of payments
  • Provide payroll processing support, which includes cross-checking totals and preparing pay slips
  • Reconcile and record daily account transactions, including incoming/outgoing payments, credit card transactions, and other reporting as needed
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory compliance requirements, including month-end and year-end audit and valuation processes
  • Respond to accounting-related inquiries from internal and external parties
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accruals are properly captured

Additionally, this position will:

  • Perform ad-hoc projects as assigned, including general and technical accounting and financial reporting
  • Maintain files, accounting documents, records, reports, and any other pertinent data in accordance with department policies and procedures
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed

The MUST Haves: (ex: job cannot be done without these skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a relevant role.
  • General knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles.
  • Microsoft Office – must have strong working knowledge of Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in Greek and English).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to: Multi-task and meet deadlines, set own priorities, problem-solve, and adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information.
